Family Members Found Marijuana in Michael Jackson's Bedroom

Police who searched Michael Jackson's home the day after he died were acting on information from family members who said they'd found a bag of heroin in his bedroom, but a person with knowledge of subsequent test results on the substance said it turned out not to be the drug.

The search did, however, turn up a number of other drugs including marijuana, the generic form of Valium and other sedatives. A detective also indicated Jackson's body showed signs of injections.

The disclosure came in an affidavit supporting a search warrant that was executed June 26, three days earlier than any previously reported search of Jackson's rented mansion in Bel-Air, The Associated Press reports.

Rotting marijuana that Michael Jackson's family members mistook for heroin briefly caused detectives to look for further evidence of the illegal drug in the pop star's rented residence during the frenzied 48 hours after his death, according to sources close to the investigation.

Family members told coroner's officials that they found "tar heroin" in the Holmby Hills home's master bedroom. Only Jackson and his children had access to the room, according to court records unsealed Thursday. The discovery prompted authorities to obtain a search warrant for Jackson's house for heroin, hypodermic needles, cutting agents, scales, balloons, condoms, razor blades, buyer lists, and seller lists, among other items, documents show, Los Angeles Times reports.

According to the released documents, authorities recovered two different portions of marijuana, one weighing 14.89 gg and another weighing 11.40 gg, both in bags. In addition, paraphernalia often used to roll marijuana was also found, including cigarette papers and two empty cigarette packs, the Los Angeles Police Department Property Report revealed. It was not clear where in the home the other items were uncovered.

Other items recovered according to the property report included pill bottles containing Temazepan, which according to drugs.com, can be prescribed for sleeplessness; a tube containing Benoquin ointment – a prescription generally used to treat Vitiligo; a bottle containing Valisone ointment, which can be used for skin problems; a box of Nystatin, an anti-fungal medication, and Triamcinolone ointment – a steroid for inflammation, allergic disorders and skin conditions, and vials of Latanoprost, which is aimed at reducing pressure in the eye, Access Hollywood informs.
