Filmmaker Ethan Coen will stop writing plays.

The Atlantic Theater Company will present the world premiere of Coen's "Almost an Evening," three short plays, opening Jan. 22 at its Atlantic Stage 2. Preview performances begin Jan. 9.

The cast will include F. Murray Abraham, Jonathan Cake, J.R. Horne, Jordan Lage, Mark Linn-Baker, Elizabeth Marvel, Mary McCann, Del Pentecost and Joey Slotnick.

With his brother Joel, Coen has made such movies as "Fargo," "Raising Arizona," "Barton Fink" and the current "No Country for Old Men."

"Almost an Evening" will be directed by Neil Pepe, the Atlantic's artistic director, for a limited run through Feb. 10.
