A judge decided to delay the trial of a British man accused of killing his wife and baby.

Neil Entwistle is accused of fatally shooting his wife, Rachel, and their 9-month-old daughter, Lillian, in their Massachusetts home in January 2006, then fleeing to England.

Prosecutors say Entwistle was despondent over mounting debts and may have planned to commit suicide after killing his wife and daughter.

Entwistle has said he is innocent.

The trial was scheduled to begin on Jan. 28. But the judge agreed to postpone the trial until March 17 after hearing a second request from Entwistle's attorneys. The judge had rejected the delay last week, but said she would be willing to reconsider if Entwistle's lawyers gave her more information on why they needed more time.

Entwistle's lawyers said they had received thousands of pages of documents and hundreds of photographs from prosecutors since late September and need more time to get experts to review the material, which includes DNA and ballistic evidence.
