Georges Marciano purchases precious white diamond
An 84.37-carat white diamond of unprecedented size and beauty sold at auction Wednesday to Guess clothing company founder Georges Marciano for just under US$16.2 million (11 million EUR).
The jewel - the largest top-quality, brilliant-cut white diamond ever to appear at auction - had been valued by Sotheby's at between US$13.3 million and US$17.8 million (9.05 million EUR and 12.1 million EUR).
