Actor Kirk Douglas dressed up as a clown and appeared at a Los Angeles playground dedication ceremony.
The legendary "Spartacus" star slapped high-fives with students as he walked through the Shirley Avenue Elementary School schoolyard in the suburban San Fernando Valley.
For a decade, the Anne and Kirk Douglas Playground Award has provided more than $7 million (4.85 million EUR) to area schools. Shirley Avenue Elementary in Reseda had never had a playground.
Douglas also got up and danced as youngsters sang "Holding out for a Hero" while holding photographs of the actor in some of his most famous roles. He even rode down one of the slides.
