Eli Broad donates 20 million dollars for stem cell research
University of California got $20 million (14.5 million EUR) from U.S. billionaire Eli Broadto to research into stem cell.
The gift from the Eli and Edythe Broad Foundation will be used to purchase laboratory equipment, endow professorships and provide research grants. At the ceremony Monday, Broad was joined by the governor, Arnold Schwarzenegger and Los Angeles Mayor Antonio Villaraigosa.
Last year, Broad donated $25 million (18.1 million EUR) for stem cell research to the University of Southern California.
