"Producers" director Stroman's film inspired by old movie musicals

When it came time to make a movie out of "The Producers," Susan Stroman had a simple approach: If it ain't broke, don't fix it.

Stroman, who directed and choreographed the award-winning stage production, was tapped by Mel Brooks to transfer the energy onto the screen with stars Nathan Lane and Matthew Broderick.
