Presentation of Russian art show to be held in New York

The presentation of an art show Rossiya (Russia) цфы held on May 26th in New York. The show should be opened in the Guggenheim Museum in mid-September. The show is an unprecedented cultural event featuring a large-scale display of Russian fine and applied art. The leading Russian museums are expected to take part in the show that will mark the 60th anniversary of the United Nations.

The show will have more than 300 exhibits from the State Hermitage, Tretyakov Gallery, Russian Museum, Moscow's Kremlin, Minneapolis Museum of Russian Art and other state-run and private collections from Russia and USA.

There are plans for a similar show called Amerika (America) to be brought to Russia in 2006. “This huge project aims to show the image of either country in terms of history, origins, traditions,” said Mikhail Shvydkoi, head of the Russian Federal Agency for Culture and Cinema. Aside from the works of art, both shows will also display objects of material history of the civilization, according to Mr. Shvydkoi.
