Cosmonauts need wine to relieve stress in ISS

Salizhan Sharipov, flight engineer of the tenth ISS expedition, believes that for comfortable work aboard the International Space Station cosmonauts should be allowed to drink 50 grams of wine or brandy daily.

"This should be done only to do one's work better and relieve the psychological stress," he said on Wednesday at his first post-flight news conference as he replied to a question from RIA Novosti.

Speaking of the psychological climate aboard the station in the course of the six-month flight with NASA astronaut Leroy Chiao, Sharipov noted: "Our compatibility was complete - Leroy is quick on the uptake, understanding everything at a glance. There was no moment of us looking at each other askance - we respect each other a lot."
