When SARS will be defeated?

A Chinese medical researcher believed to have contracted SARS from a research laboratory will be discharged from hospital in the eastern province of Anhui Monday, state media said. The researcher, surnamed Song, was the first of nine people infected in the latest outbreak of the deadly Severe Acute Respiratory Syndrome, which spread from southern China in late 2002 and went on to kill about 800 people around the world, Reuters reports. "She is in generally good health condition and her physical signs are stable," the official Xinhua news agency said on Sunday, citing Anhui health authorities. The mother of the Anhui researcher is the only person to have died in the outbreak. Beijing SARS patient surnamed Zhang, who was in critical condition for the past few days, remains very sick, the ministry said. No new SARS cases were reported on the Chinese mainland for the past 24 hours, China's Health Ministry said to Xinhuanet on Sunday.
