Paul McCartney will be in Saint Petersburg for his birthday

Sir Paul McCartney will celebrate his birthday this year in Saint Petersburg. Word of this came from the organizers of his planned June 20 concert in Winter Palace Square. McCartney is expected to arrive in Saint Petersburg on June 17 from Helsinki. He will be 62 on June 18.

McCartney will stay in one of the cottages near the Konstantinov Palace in Strelnya. 'Persburg is awfully popular in the summer, and we weren't able to book a room for McCartney at the Grand Hotel Europa,' the organizers said. 'And the extraordinary Konstantinov development deserves a boost.'

Aside from his concert, McCartney's plans for his stay are still somewhat unsettled. 'McCartney is interested in Russian artists just now and would like to visit the Russian Museum and will certainly visit the Hermitage,' the organizers said. 'And he and his wife love bicycling, so it's possible they'll do some biking in Petersburg, as they did last year in Moscow.'

The concert organizers also said McCartney's daughter, Stella McCartney, a popular designer in the West and head of the Paris-based firm of Chloe, has expressed interest in opening a clothing store in Petersburg.
