Documentary films about Chechnya entitled Chechen War in the Media will be screened in the main hall of the Berlin state library on November 26 and 28 as part of the exhibition Berlin-Moscow/Moscow-Berlin 1950-2000. As Rosbalt was informed by the organizing committee, the programme includes films produced in different countries about the war in Chechnya.
On November 28, after the films have been shown, there will be a discussion featuring Vanessa Redgrave, Ivan Rybkin, Bundestag Deputy Markus Meckel, film producer Andrei Nekrasov and other journalists and people involved in film production.
2003 was declared the year of Russia in Germany. The exhibition Berlin-Moscow/Moscow-Berlin 1950-2000 is a continuation of the project Berlin-Moscow/Moscow-Berlin 1900-1950, which was exhibited in the two countries' capitals eight years ago. Over the course of 2003 there have been cultural events in over 30 German cities including theatrical performances, operas and ballets and events relating to literature and cinema. Many of these events will be continued in 2004, which is set to become the year of Germany in Russia.
