Russian Museum to bring art exhibition to Nizhny Novgorod

On Friday, within the framework of the "Russia" Program, the Petersburg State Russian Museum will open an exhibition, "Three Centuries of Russian Art" and an information educational center, "A Virtual World of the Russian Museum," in Nizhny Novgorod, an administrative center in the Volga Federal District.

The Nizhny Novgorod State Arts Museum will display about a hundred paintings, drawings, sculptures and works of applied art, the most prominent works of Russian art of the 18th-20th centuries, reported the press service of the Russian Museum.

On the day of the opening of the exhibition, an information educational center, "A Virtual World of the Russian Museum," will open in Nizhny Novgorod's Lobachevsky State University.

"The unique technologies will make it possible to show the collections of the Petersburg arts museum to the citizens of the Volga city and to attract the attention of the socially active groups of the population, especially of the young people," said the press service.

The "Russia" program has been scheduled for ten years. The collections of the Russian Museum will be shown in many cities. The program started in April 2003 in Moscow when an exhibition, "I Like Petersburg," devoted to the 300th anniversary of the city on the Neva, was opened in the Pushkin State Arts Museum.

After Nizhny Novgorod exhibitions under this program will take place in Samara, Saratov and Petrozavodsk.
