30 countries display police and military equipment at Moscow show

The International Exhibition of Special Police and Military Equipment opens in Moscow on Tuesday. About 400 enterprises from 30 countries will present up-to-date samples of special equipment, means of defense, fire protection and rescuing, communication systems, means of automating and protecting information, personal defense equipment and special transport vehicles.

At the exhibition visitors can familiarize themselves with "the activity of the Interior Ministry Troops, the Defense Ministry and other bodies, including special task forces and anti-terror forces," said a spokesman for the Interpolitech-2003 organizing committee.

"One of the most spectacular events at the forum will be the demonstration of police and military equipment at the testing ground in the town of Krasnoarmeisk (Moscow region)," said the spokesman.

Conferences, seminars and roundtable conferences devoted to trends in the activity of the Interior Ministry's bodies will be organized as part of the forum.

Colonel General Vyacheslav Ovchinnikov, a representative of Rosoboronexport (one of the organizers of the exhibition) said, "tens of thousands of specialists, including more than 100 foreign delegations, will visit this international forum." "Though at the present time, special police and military equipment account for only approximately one percent of Russian arms exports, we plan to considerably increase this figure in the future. The worldwide demand for these kinds of products is constantly growing," said Vyacheslav Ovchinnikov.

"The number of the participants in the Interpolitch conference increases annually. This testifies to the growing authority of the forum both in Russia and abroad," a representative of Rosoboronexport said.
