Russian film festival in Espace Cardin center, Paris

New films by acknowledged directors and promising debutants will be presented at the Russian film festival opening in the Espace Cardin center in Paris on Friday.

A lot of people are expected to visit the film festival, representative of the organizing committee Viktor Gelman told RIA Novosti. Russian films are traditionally popular in France and the names of directors and actors mentioned in the bill promise high-quality cinema.

The film show will take place in the famous Espace Cardin situated in Champs d'Elysees in the center of the French capital. This is of particular importance, as well.

Twelve films will be shown as part of the festival. Vadim Abdrashitov's new film "The Magnetic Storms" will open the show.

Well-known films "Father and Son" by Alexander Sokurov and "Babusya" (Granny) by Lydia Bobrova and new works, for instance, "Casus Belli" by Igor Ugolnikov and "Boomer" by Pyotr Buslov will be shown over six days. Directors Stanislav Govorukhin, Aleksei Uchitel, Alexander Khvan, Gennady Sidorov, Alexander Proshkin, Irina Yevteyeva and Vitaly Melnikov are also mentioned in the bill.

Meetings and discussions involving Russian and French cinematographers, producers and distributors will be held as part of the festival.

The organizers of the film show expect the festival in the Espace Cardin center to become traditional.

RIA Novosti's photo exhibition "Vzglyad" (Look) will be take place during the festival. The exposition features dozens of works by renowned photographers revealing Russia's modern history.
