The Saint Petersburg Academic State Capella began its US tour yesterday. As a Rosbalt correspondent was informed by the Capella's press office, the Capella choir led by Vyacheslav Chernushenko is touring the US for the first time. They will visit several states including Florida and Santa Barbara and will perform at the Lincoln Centre and other famous venues.
They will perform traditional choral music as well as Russian folk songs. The highlight of their repertoire will be Sergei Rachmaninov's All-Night Vigil. This piece was performed in 1928 when the Leningrad Choir, formerly the Imperial Court's Capella, toured Germany and Italy. 75 years later the Capella will perform this piece on their tour of the United States.
The tour will last about a month.
