Most complete works of Pushkin in English given to Russian National Library

The Russian National Library has received as a gift the complete works of Russian poet Alexander Pushkin in fifteen volumes in English. The British Consulate in St. Petersburg told Rosbalt that the gift was presented by former member of Parliament Ian Sproat.

The works were prepared on the initiative of Sprout, who engaged in fund raising necessary to see the project completed. He also fulfilled the role of publisher and chief editor. The idea to publish the works of Pushkin in English came to Sprout when he saw a poster on near Picadilli Circus in London with information about an exhibition devoted to the 150th anniversary of the death of Pushkin. With the help of Russian, English and American literary critics, he compiled different translations and selected the best. As a result, the most complete collection of the works of Pushkin in English was published.
