Festival "Russian Jazz on the Dnieper"

A jazz festival called "Russian jazz on the Dnieper" opens in Dnepropetrovsk (a large city in Eastern Ukraine with mostly Russian-speaking population).

The festival organizers say eleven ensembles, nine of them from Russia, will perform at the event, which is to last three days. In particular, the audience will see Russian quintet from Rostov-on-Don "Prestige", a duo of Leonid and Nikolai Vintskevich from Kursk, a duo of Sergei Strukov and Alexei Lvov-Belov from Penza, and St Petersburg sextet "Doo Bop Sound".

Ensembles from Dnepropetrovsk - a duo Alexander Lyubchenko-Yuri Piven and a gubernatorial big band conducted by Palamarchuk - will present their programs as well. Moscow will be represented by bands "Cher-ta" of Irina Rodiles and "Melodiya" of Georgy Garanyan, as well as by quintet "Trans Atlantic".

The eleventh jazz festival in Dnepropetrovsk is held as part of the Year of Russia in Ukraine.
