Exhibition of great Flemish painters from Hermitage collection opens in Barcelona

The exhibition "Rubens, Van Dyck, Jordaens and Others" opened in the CaixaForum Museum in Barcelona (Spain) on Monday. The exposition features works by the great Flemish painters of the 17th century from the collection of St. Petersburg's Hermitage.

The exhibition does not only present 12 paintings by Rubens, 10 pictures by Van Dyck and eight pictures by Jordaens but also works by other painters who worked under Rubens's supervision.

The exposition " is to show the best achievements of the brilliant Flemish school of the 17th century and to represent the historic background of this immortal art," Hermitage official Tatiana Zagrebina said at the opening ceremony.

All in all, the exposition features 49 works by 26 painters. The exhibition in Barcelona will last till February 2004.
