Eurasia television forum to open in Moscow on October 27

The sixth Eurasian television forum will take place in Moscow at the Mir hotel complex from October 27 through November 1, said forum president Valentin Lazutkin. He said that the Eurasian television academy (ETA), which consists of more than 200 television employees from foreign countries including Armenia, Belarus, Bulgaria, Germany, Kazakhstan, Canada, Latvia and other countries, is organizing the forum.

Russian National Broadcasting Association President Eduard Sagalaev said that more than 100 television journalism works including reports, programs and films will be judged in the forum's competition. Prizes will be awarded in 16 different categories including news coverage, popular science film, entertainment, educational and journalistic programs, fiction film and more. Winners automatically become members of ETA. In addition to the competition, Sagalaev said that round tables devoted to the problem of Russian language broadcasting around the world, seminars on creativity, and workshops conducted by leading experts will also be held.

Speaking about the current situation surrounding Russian-language broadcasting abroad, Sagalaev said that it is 'close to catastrophic.' 'We are providing the Russian speaking population with information from questionable sources,' he said. The television forum is being held under the aegis of the Russian Foreign Ministry, the city of Moscow, and the CIS executive committee.
