Book exhibition devoted to 300th anniversary of Russian journalism opens in Moscow

Prime Minister of Russia Mikhail Kasyanov will open today an exhibition devoted to the 300th anniversary of Russian journalism. The first Russian printed newspaper was issued in 1703. The Manezh exhibition will be the main event of the celebration.

For the first time the visitors of the exhibition will be able to view the entire history of the Russian press. Over 7,000 exhibits - historical documents, newspapers and magazines, yellow with time, that were issued in those remote years, rare books, including reference books, all kind of posters, ancient lithographs and printed portraits - are on display in 12 halls with a total area of 5,000 square meters.

The exhibits were provided by over 30 major Russian state archives and museums and the largest libraries of the country.
