Woody Allen is ashamed of his government

World-renowned filmmaker Woody Allen, who presented his new movie "Anything Else" in Barcelona, stated that he was ashamed of incompetence demonstrated by the U.S. Government. According to Spanish "El Pais" newspaper, popular film director made this statement during a press conference that followed the presentation of his movie.

In particular, Woody Allen said he was ashamed of incompetence of the US government in relation to the terrible situation in Iraq after the recent war.

According to Mr. Allen, the present American leaders are arrogant and dull. Addressing journalists, he added, "I can assure you that many Americans are eagerly waiting for the upcoming elections to vote for somebody else." Referring to the perspectives of peaceful solution of the Israeli-Palestinian conflict, Mr. Allen said that influential intermediaries were needed there, prominent figures who could reconcile the opposing sides because none of the adversaries had another alternative but to coexist in peace.

However, the United States, which plays an important role in this situation, cannot be an effective go-between at present, because the current White House authorities lack the skill, the sensitivity and the wisdom necessary to conduct such a delicate mission; therefore, the solution must be postponed until the new U.S. administration takes over, the filmmaker believes.
