Sixth Russian international motor show opens in Moscow

The Sixth Russian international motor show, Avtosalon-2003, which is considered to be the largest car show in Russia and Eastern Europe, opened in Moscow on Monday, at the Expocenter in Krasnaya Presnya.

The show has been noted by the International Organisation or Motor Vehicle Manufacturers and the International Union of Exhibitions and Fairs.

This year a record number of participants in Avtosalon-2003 has been recorded.

The show occupies an area of 35 thousand square meters and has filled practically all exhibition sites at the Expocenter. Over 800 cars will be on display, 570 of them are of a Russian make.

Participation of the car-building leaders of the world has become traditional for Moscow. Among the cars on display this year are auto giants like BMW, General Motors, Audi, Ford, Volvo, Peugeot, Citroen, Honda, Toyota, Mercedes Benz, Nissan, Tata, Tatra, and others. Among the best known Russian car manufacturing works are VAZ, GAZ, KAMAZ, ZIL, UralAZ, UAZ, Izhmash and a number of others.

For the first time the Russian motor show will have a section devoted to car building technologies. A number of sessions on car building research and technologies are to be held during the show.

Avtosalon-2003 will be open until August 31.
