President allocates money to buy a picture for Tretyakov Gallery

President Vladimir Putin has decreed to allocate 6,126,000 roubles (or close on $200,00) of presidential reserve funds, in the third quarter of this year, to the federal Culture Ministry. The ministry will purchase Fortaleza do Pico, a picture by the famous Karl Bryullov (1799-1852), for the State Tretyakov Gallery, the country's major collection of Russian art.

The money is allocated to replenish Russia's museum stock ahead of the Tretyakov Gallery's 150th establishment anniversary, the Kremlin press office has told RIA Novosti.
