Russian parachute jumpers to land on Lenin Peak, Kyrgyzstan

Nine Russian parachute jumpers are planning to accomplish a very difficult action - to land on the Lenin Peak in Kyrgyzstan, one of the world's highest mountains rising 7,134 meters above sea level.

The most dangerous part of the jump is to land on a small area on the mountain top. Such jumps were accomplished since the 1960s and often resulted in the death of jumpers.

Action participants, however, have carefully considered the mistakes made by their predecessors and designed new parachutes and oxygen systems. They also spent some time working out at the Cosmonauts Training Center in Zvyozdny Gorodok outside Moscow.
