Media Forum in Moscow

The program of the 25th Moscow International Film Festival envisages a Media Forum presenting new experimental avant-garde films between June 25 and 27. This time, the forum features a large amount of Russian-made video art.

The competitive screening program includes experimental films, documentaries, video art, and interactive art, and envisages international screening of cinema and video programs from the world's largest collections of media art, including some from the British and Dutch film institutes, the Danish Video Art Data Bank, etc.

The program of the forum also envisages a conference called "Future Cinema," which coincides with the opening of a first large international exhibition of modern practices and arts applied to video, cinema, and computer and Internet installations featuring new technologies and new cinematic forms. There will also be a round-table discussion titled "Trash: at the Film Industry's Backyard," a multimedia show, and intermedia concerts.

The whole range of experimental films will be appraised by a jury uniting Helen de Witt of The British Film Institute, the Russian film critic and specialist in avant-garde cinema Milena Musina, Regional Director of the Independent Film & Video Alliance of Canada Katherine Liberovsky, Director of Museums Communications of Germany's ZKM Center for Art and Media Berhnard Serexhe, and Bart Rutten of The Netherlands Media Art Institute.
