Germany donates EUR 30,000 to Russian National Library

German Consul in St. Petersburg Ulrich Schoening yesterday awarded the Russian National Library two cheques worth a total of EUR 30,000. The two cheques, each for EUR 15,000, will be used to buy new books this year and next. The money is being donated by the German Research Association.

According to Vladimir Zaitsev, the director of the library, a professor from the German Research Association who was working at the library last year drew the association's attention to the lack of German informational publications in the library. The money is intended to purchase these kinds of books.
