RIA Novosti organizes photo exhibition in Rome

A photo exhibition called Russia Today opens in the Rome-based Foreign Press Association on Tuesday.

Organized by RIA Novosti, the exhibition features 33 pictures the news agency's photo reporters took in the recent years, showing the most important and interesting moments in the life of the Russian state: the inauguration of Russian President Vladimir Putin, the referendum in Chechnya, the launch of a rocket from the Baikonur space port, the meeting between ex-Soviet President Mikhail Gorbachev and the Pope, night in Moscow, a cascade of fountains in Peterhof /outside St. Petersburg/, etc.

The exhibition was timed to coincide with the Day of Russia, celebrated on June 12. The opening will be attended by prominent Italian politicians, political scientists, reporters, and businessmen.

Simultaneously, RIA Novosti released a book called "Russia: Road Towards Democracy," dedicated to the 10th anniversary of the Russian Constitution, which is due in December, 2003.
