Masterpieces of Western opera sound in Moscow's "School of Dramatic Art" theater

On Wednesday night, the "Moscow Kremlin" cappella will sing masterpieces of the 19th century Western opera during a concert in the "School of Dramatic Art" theater. The concert program includes arias and choruses from Donizetti's, Verdi's, Mascagni's, and Gounod's operas.

The "Moscow Kremlin" cappella is one of the most talented contemporary musical groups in Russia. It was founded in 1991 by Gennadi Dmitryak. In 1994, the cappella became part of the "Moscow Kremlin" State Historical and Cultural Museum. This event was predetermined historically. It was back in the 15th century, during the times of tsar Ivan the Third, when the first Russian professional chorus was founded in the Kremlin. During many centuries, this chorus performed not only during religious ceremonies and processions, but also during accessions to the throne, royal weddings and formal receptions of foreign delegations.

Today, the "Moscow Kremlin" cappella continues the traditions of the first Kremlin chorus, having become the keeper of musical inheritance of the Kremlin.
