St. Petersburg's hymn for visiting heads of states will be performed by "Scorpions"

On Saturday, May 31st, at the Konstantin Palace "Scorpions" will sing St. Petersburg's hymn for the heads of states who have arrived in St. Petersburg to celebrate the city's 300th anniversary, Soloist of the group Klaus Maine told journalists.

According to him, St. Petersburg's new hymn will crown the concert with participation of artists from all over the world, including such stars as Luciano Pavarotti, Emma Shaplin and Demis Rusos. Each of the singers will sing a few lines from the hymn, which, as Klaus Maine stressed, "will symbolise unification of the whole world." According to the "Scorpions" soloist, as the other concert participants he considers it a great honour to sing before heads of 44 states, gathered together for the first time in St. Petersburg.

When answering a RIA Novosti question, Klaus Maine said that "after the "Scorpions" performance at St. Petersburg's jubilee celebration, he might write a song about the Northern capital. The soloist recalled that his first visit to the Soviet Union in the late 1980s had inspired him to write the song "Wind of Change" devoted to Russia.
