Vladivostok hosts Maritime educational readings to commemorate holy Cyril and Methodius

On Tuesday Vladivostok /a city-port in Russia's Far East/ hosted traditional education readings in the Maritime territory to commemorate holy Cyril and Methodius.

The readings held for the third consecutive time in the region are aimed at helping to understand the role of education, church and science in spiritual and moral enlightening of the society and establish cooperation of all healthy forces to restore Russia, the Vladivostok-Maritime eparchy has reported.

After a plenary session the participants of the readings, including scientists, clergymen, teachers of humanitarian subjects, youth leaders continued their work in groups. They considered and discussed issues concerning orthodox education and patriotic up-bringing, the role of church in social and psychological rehabilitation as well as other topical issues.

The programme of the readings also includes an evening of spiritual poetry, spiritual music concert, summing of the results of the television journalists' contest with demonstration of the best works.
