Italy to Provide Lighting System for St. Petersburg Monuments on City's 300th Anniversary

Italy will present lighting systems for the Suvorov Museum and the Church of Saint Catherine on the city's 300th anniversary. This was announced at a press conference yesterday by Deputy Italian Foreign Minister Senator Roberto Antonione. He said that the projects to create lighting for the Suvorov Museum and the Church of Saint Catherine, both of which are on the list of monuments the city administration decided to restore in view of the city's 300th anniversary, were designed by the association Lensvet. The lighting system will be turned on in October or NovemberThe Italian calendar of events for celebrating the 300th anniversary of Saint Petersburg includes over 90 events connected with art, music, theatre, fashion and design. Moreover, there are plans to restore some of the city's facades and buildings so that people will recognise the quality of Italian art.

The Suvorov Museum was designed by the architect Gauguin and it holds historical artefacts relating to the life and work of General Alexander Suvorov. The Roman Catholic Church of Saint Catherine is on Nevsky Prospect and was built by the architect Antonio Rinaldi. It is now one of six Catholic churches in the city.
