Proton-K Booster Rocket Put Space Vehicle of Kosmos Series into Support Orbit

The Proton-K heavy-class booster rocket which took off from the Russian cosmodrome Baikonur at 08:33 Moscow time on Thursday put a space vehicle of the Kosmos series into a support circular orbit, the press service of the Space Forces of Russia reported.

The satellite was launched in the interests of the Ministry of Defence of Russia.

The propulsion system of the boost unit which is united with the satellite will now put the space vehicle first into a transfer orbit and then into the target (geotransfer) orbit.

The separation of the space vehicle from the boost unit is scheduled for 15:00 Moscow time.

It is already the 297th launch of the Proton-K booster rocket from the Baikonur cosmodrome, with 261 of them being successful, the Space Forces officials noted.
