Holy Fire From Jerusalem to Be Brought to Moscow By Easter

The Holy Fire from Jerusalem will be brought to Moscow by Easter. The action will take place as part of the international "Peace for Jerusalem" project. A Russian delegation flies to Jerusalem on Friday, April 25. In Jerusalem they will join in an all-Orthodox prayer for peace on the Holy Land. The prayer will also be said in many Orthodox churches across the world, including practically all dioceses of Russia, as well as in the parishes of 15 local Orthodox Churches.

Then the Russian delegation will proceed to the Church of the Holy Sepulchre, where on Easter-eve every year millions of believers expect the descent of the Holy Fire. The fire will be transported to Russia in unique containers developed for the carriage of the Olympic flame.

The Holy Fire is planned to be delivered to Christ the Saviour Temple by the beginning of the Easter service. On April 27, after Easter vespers, the Holy Fire will be handed over to representatives of Moscow's churches. The Fire is expected to be also distributed to representatives of the Orthodox churches of Moldova, Ukraine, Belarus and other countries.
