21st Century High Technologies Forum Opens in Moscow

An international 21st-century high technologies forum which opened Monday in Moscow displays original projects in a wide variety of areas, from ecology, medicine and machine-building to the fuel-and-energy tandem, information technologies, educational systems and special means. The exposition follows the participation of Russia's leading arms-selling Rosoboronexport company in Russian innovation policies.

The forum is attended by firms of Russia's 22 regions as well as from Ukraine, Lithuania and Germany. According to Moscow Mayor Yury Luzhkov, it is time to speak about breakthroughs in technologies rather than about mechanical output build-up. He drew attention to the fact that the forum exhibits, apart from defence industry products, also defence-converted enterprises and results of joint regional co-operation.

Industry and Science Minister Ilya Klebanov made a point of prospects for the forum to become a major vehicle of fostering high technologies.
