Genetics from different countries found thousands of fragments of DNA in mice that influence the formation of human facial features.

The new research will allow scientists to understand why people's faces are so different.  It will also be possible to study the mechanism of development defects.

Despite the fact that the study was conducted on animals, this mechanism is similar in humans, geneticists said.

Professor Axel Wiesel from the Institute for Genomic Research in Lawrence National Laboratory in Berkeley (CA), over 4,000 enhancers or modifying genes were found in the mouse genome that play a role in the formation of facial features.
