Russian Internet celebrates 19th anniversary
On Sunday, the 19th of April 2013, the Russian national internet domain celebrates its 19th anniversary. In 1994, three Russian companies started a Russian national domain.
The Russian Research Institute for Public Networks guaranteed them administrative and technical support. Today, the .ru zone has 4.47 million registered domains. The Russian segment includes a Cyrillic zone, where users can read sites in the Russian language. The Cyrillic zone .rf has nearly one million registered domain names in the Russian language.
