Sverdlovsk charity activists help children in need

Yevgeny Kuyvashev, the governor of the Sverdlovsk region, thanked Ural charity activists for their support in addressing the social problems of the region. The charity evening of the second "Ekaterinburg Assembly", conducted with the support of the regional governor, Yevgeny Kuyvashev, and regional government, raised more than three million rubles in support of children without parental care.

"Over two million people in the region require social assistance. We greatly appreciate the commitment of business, organizations and individuals to participate in charity," Governor Yevgeny Kuyvashev addressed the Assembly.

"The assistance from responsive, compassionate, charitable people and public-private partnerships in the social sphere - that's the key to our overall success in improving the quality of life of Urals. The noble goal of the Ekaterinburg Assembly - to raise funds for orphaned children - is one of the clearest examples to prove this," said the governor.

The raised funds will be transferred to Children of Russia Foundation for the social project "Road to the Future." The project aims to support orphans during their enrollment in high schools. The project also suggests further support throughout the process of education and subsequent employment. The participants of the program may count on additional scholarship and practical training at leading enterprises of the Middle Urals.

In the Sverdlovsk region, helping children without parents is an activity under special control. Special attention is paid to solving the housing problem. Over the past two years, the regional budget provided housing for a thousand orphans who entered adulthood. The budget for the implementation of the program in 2013 includes more than 370 million rubles.

Yevgeny Kuyvashev thanked the organizers and participants of the Assembly for the initiative and non-indifference to the social problems of citizens. He noted that the "Ekaterinburg Assembly" should become a traditional and significant event in the life of the city and a good example to other municipalities.

During the first charity event, there were 2.9 million rubles raised. The funds were transferred to the Regional Children's Clinical Hospital № 1 for the purchase of medical equipment. In general, as of last year, the amount of funds assigned by enterprises and citizens of the region for charitable purposes amounted to over 11 billion rubles.
