Launch of South Korean rocket canceled minutes before start

The launch of South Korean rocket KSLV-1 scheduled for today, November 29, was canceled. Technical problems were found during the last minutes before the launch.

According to MR7, the countdown was stopped 17 minutes before the start. The second stage of the launch vehicle turned out to be unprepared for the flight. Experts have already drained the fuel from the rocket and sent the rocket to the technical complex to determine the cause of the failure.

Originally, the missile was supposed to be launched on November 26. However, the launch was delayed shortly before the start too due to a gas leak, reports BaltInfo. On Wednesday, space center Naro completed the final tests of the rocket, there were no obstacles found for a successful launch.

The planned launch of the KSLV-1 space rocket was to become the third attempt of South Korea to launch the booster rocket from its own spaceport, said RBC. Russian specialists also took part in the development of the rocket. Two previous launches - in August 25, 2009 and in June 10, 2010 - ended in a failure. After the failed launches, it was said that the malfunction occurred because of the failure of the Russian first stage, but then it was found that there is an error in the one of the two halves of the nose cone of the Korean production.
