Comanche County Memorial Hospital named 2008 " Distinguished Hospital for Patient Safety"

Lawton Comanche County Memorial Hospital was named a 2008 " Distinguished Hospital for Patient Safety," according to the fifth annual HealthGrades Patient Safety in American Hospitals Study.

This recognition reflects the hospital’s position among the top 5% (249 hospitals out of nearly 5,000) that offer patients better treatment and have a lower chance of making medical errors, thus having high rates of safety outcomes.

If every hospital out of 5,000 has earned such a status, over 200,000 patient safety incidents could have been avoided while saving the US approximately $2 Billion from 2004 to 2006.

Comanche County Memorial Hospital was founded in 1951 by a group of community leaders with the charitable mission of ensuring the availability of medical care to all, regardless of social status.

Today, Comanche County Memorial Hospital is a 283 bed hospital and integrated delivery system and the largest county hospital in Oklahoma . With over 1,500 employees and a network of more than 150 physicians, Comanche County Memorial Hospital is also the 3rd largest employer in Comanche County.
