Activision has profitable fiscal 2008, new games ahead

An American video game developer and publisher, Activision, Inc. (NASDAQ: ATVI) celebrates the record-breaking profit declaring fiscal 2008 to be the best.

In addition to its improved financial status the company reported about new titles in the Guitar Hero and Call of Duty franchises, and additional content for the current titles Guitar Hero III and Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare.

The company also promises to develop plenty of movie tie-ins, including James Bond, The Quantum of Solace, Kung Fu Panda, Madagascar 2 and Monsters vs Aliens.

Activision is currently working at the next Tony Hawk skateboarding game, developing a new Spider-Man title and a sequel for Marvel Ultimate Alliance.

Activision merged with Vivendi Games on December 2, 2007. With the new organization using the brand names of Activision and the Vivendi - Blizzard Entertainment - the companies expect that the merge will be complete by mid 2008. They believe that their merging will create "the world’s largest and most profitable pure-play video game publisher". Blizzard Entertainment is the only publisher that has "leading market positions across all categories" of the video game industry.
