Georgian border guards find cache of rockets on border with Russia

Georgian border guards found a cache of weaponry including rockets and launchers along the &to=' target=_blank>Caucasus nation's border with the troubled Russian province of Ingushetia, a Georgia border officer said Monday.

Guards patrolling along the border on Sunday found the cache buried in a mountainous forest about 180 kilometers (110 miles) north of the capital Tbilisi, said Lt. Gen. Badri Bitsadze, of the Interior Ministry's border department.

Among the weaponry was 38 unguided rockets and 13 launchers. He said it was possible the arms were left behind by Chechen rebels three years ago, after Georgian forces conducted a sweep in the nearby Pankisi Gorge, a longtime hideout for Chechen fighters.
