Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov, who is chairman of the Russian Commission for UNESCO Affairs, will speak during a general political debate at a session of the UNESCO General Conference on October 11, the Foreign Ministry said on Thursday.
The 33rd Session, to be held in Paris, will mark UNESCO's 60th anniversary, the Interfax reports.
Lavrov will also meet with UNESCO Director General Koichiro Matsuura "to discuss issues of interaction between Russia and UNESCO, of reforming the organization, and of using its potential in the context of modern global problems," the ministry said in a release on its website.
