Putin does not support global changes in constitution

In an annual, traditionally held, televised question-and-answer session Russian President Vladimir Putin said Tuesday he does not favor major changes in the constitution.

In response to a caller's question on whether he could run for a third term, Putin said he did not see it as his task to sit in the Kremlin "eternally," and that it was his aim to pave the way for a younger generation of able leaders.

However, he added a qualifying remark, noting that "as they say in the military, 'I'll find my place in the order of things' after his second term ends in 2008, RIA Novosti reports.
