Chechen police shot and killed three suspected rebels in the provincial capital, Grozny, officials said Monday.
The rebels, who were suspected in a series of attacks against law enforcement officers and civilians, were in possession of forged police identification cards, said Roman Shchekotin, spokesman for the southern district office of the Russian Interior Ministry, the AP reports.
Two Kalashnikov automatic rifles, a grenade-launcher and ammunition were discovered in the suspected rebels' car, he said.
