Tons of oil leak from mil base in Vladivostok, part spills into sea

Specialists discovered fuel leakage into the Amur Bay near Vladivostok on Saturday. The oil leaked at first into the Pervaya River and then to the sea.

Barriers are put to prevent the fuel from spreading, and an operation has begun to gather the oil, an officer on duty at the Emergencies Ministry’s Primorsky territorial department reported.

The leakage was discovered by specialists of the Primornefteprodukt oil company, the base of which is in central Vladivostok on the coast of the Amur Bay. Tankers and other vessels are refueled there.

The oil leaked from a military base located in Vladivostok, Itar-Tass reports. According to the latest reports, over 40 tonnes of mixture of fuel oil and water has been already gathered there.
