Unidentified assailants armed with grenade-launchers and automatic weapons attacked two police cars late Tuesday in the restive southern Russian province of Ingushetia, killing three police officers, an official said.
The attack occurred near a gas station in the town of Karabulak, said Nazir Yevloyev, a spokesman for the province's Interior Ministry.
"As a result of the shooting, three policemen died and another was wounded," Yevloyev told The Associated Press
Ingushetia borders the war-torn breakaway republic of Chechnya.
