A roadside bomb blew up a car in the Chechen capital Grozny on Monday, killing one person and wounding five others, emergency response officials said.
The explosive was detonated by remote control, said Sergei Petrov, a duty officer of the southern regional branch of the Emergency Situations Ministry. No other details were immediately available, informs the AP.
Elsewhere in Chechnya, Russian forces killed the alleged leader of a guerrilla unit, Russian news agencies reported. Movsar Botayev, who was accused of staging explosions and civilian murders in the Shali region, was killed in a clash with rebels, the Interfax news agency reported.
