Russia to sell China 40 war-planes

Russia will provide China with 40 planes Il-76 and Il-78. The decision was taken at the mixed Russian-Chinese Intergovernmental commission meeting Thursday, devoted to military-technical cooperation.

Defense Minister Sergey Ivanov speaking with his counterpart mentioned the import of transport war-planes Il-76 and refuellers Il-78 to China. According to the contract with China, a bigger part of the import will be planes Il-76. Their assemblage will be accomplished on the Tashkent aviaplant, 90% of the components will be imported from Russia. As RIA-Novosti reports, the cost of the contract will be about $1 billion.

Sergey Ivanov also noted, that Russia and China have achieved the highest level of relations in political as well as in military fields.

Good relations between the countries are possible if there exists a climate of political confidence. Such relations were built between Russia and China long ago, including military sphere", Ivanov told.

Dni.ru quoted Chinese Defense Minister Tsao Ganchuan saying, that on the last negotiations parts achieved the unity of opinions on a wide specter of subjects. Tomorrow I leave Russia, and I'm confessed that the visit will be successful for the consolidation of friendly relations of Russian and Chinese armies", he added.
