Parliamentary elections in Chechnya to be held in November

Parliamentary elections in Chechnya will be held on Nov. 27, and the preparation is to start in August, Regional Development Minister Vladimir Yakovlev said Thursday during a Cabinet meeting.

The Chechen parliament will be built of two houses – the Council of the Republic with 21 deputies, and the People’s Assembly, consisting of 40 deputies, half of them will be elected on the basis of single member constituencies and the other half on a party ticket.

The elections will be financed from the federal budget. Regional Development Ministry will supervise the process of preparation for the elections.
